Meet Jim Sullivan

Jim Sullivan serves as Board Member for Perry Township, representing District 1. Re-elected to the Board in 2020, Jim serves faithfully and with distinction.  A fiscally responsible public servant, Jim’s tenure has been steady and true. The Township tax rate has NEVER been raised and the budget has been balanced.

Jim’s service track record is long and deep. Prior to serving on the Perry Township Board, Jim had served for several years as a City County Council appointed board member to the Citizens Police Complaint Board, or CPCB. In that capacity, Jim helped adjudicate citizen complaints, and worked side by side with Law Enforcement officials to observe and learn about police procedures and protocols. Through that exchange, Jim learned a great deal about the challenges that both our citizens and police face day to day.

An active and engaged Republican, serving as a Precinct Committeeman, Ward Chair, and volunteer on numerous republican campaigns, both local and statewide. Jim has built strong relationships with area leaders both inside and outside our party.

Jim is a long-term Perry Township resident. He and his wife Jennie, who grew up in the Ridge Hill Trails neighborhood in Glenns Valley, have been living in the heart of District 22 for over 25 years where they own a home and have raised their 3 sons. Their oldest son recently graduated from Xavier University’s PPP Honors program; their middle son is currently in his senior year at Purdue University in West Lafayette, studying Computer Engineering. Their youngest son is a very active senior at Perry Meridian High School. Jim met his wife Jennie while at college and both graduated with their B.A. from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jim also holds a Master’s in Management, MSM from Indiana Wesleyan University.

A Senior Property Manager, of multifamily apartment communities, Jim knows the fundamentals of what it takes to maintain large communities. Jim is the son of a police officer and a public school teacher, Jim grew up in a working class family. It was there that Jim learned the value of hard work and service to others.

Jim teaches Civics and Citizenship at the Chin Community Center of Indiana for new arrival immigrants seeking their US citizenship. Additionally, Jim serves as a Board Member for the Perry Commons Homeowners Association. Also, Jim is a 6th generation American whose ancestors served honorably to preserve the Union and is a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.

Of other interest, Jim is an avid triathlete and runner. He has competed in three 70.3 Ironman triathlon events, a dozen Olympic distance triathlon events and Including several 13.1 mile half marathons, and a full 26.2 mile marathon. Additionally, Jim has served in his local church, Southport Heights Christian Church as an Adult Education Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Deacons, Chairman of the Senior Pastor Search Committee, and member of the Missions Committee.

From 2016-2023, Jim has been a political commentary contributor for British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). Providing commentary on politics and culture in both video and writing.  One of his videos garnered more than one million views.
